It's called the Water Shed. It has opened its visitor center doors on
Main Street in Groveland to educate people on watershed issues. The
center is operated by the Tuolumne River Preservation Trust, a non
profit organization that focuses attention on both the Tuolumne and
the Clavey River watersheds.
Center manager Charles Little tells us that with a successful battle
to keep a dam from being built on the Clavey on its resume, the group
decided the next step should be to help the public understand what
Clavey and Tuolumne River watershed protection is all about.
...Hence the center.
The Groveland center is open Thursday from noon to 7pm and Friday,
Saturday & Sunday from 10am to 7pm and features extensive educational
displays on the natural and human history of watersheds.
Additionally the Water Shed has inaugurated an impressive series of
field trips. Led by experts, each excursion explores a different area
of river drainage...highlighting ecology and natural beauty. These
trips begin in late May and run through August.
