SUTTER CREEK

Welcome to Sutter CreekDowntown

the Jewel of the Mother Lode

The hardest part of constructing this webpage was finding a picture of downtown Sutter Creek that would do it justice. No one picture can capture the true charm and beauty of this very special Gold Country community! Main Street is lined with dozens of historic Gold Rush buildings that today house perhaps the area’s finest selection of B&B’s, unique shops, fine restaurants, stately homes and so much more. Sutter Creek is as great as it gets. Bring plenty of film, put on your walking shoes and, guaranteed, you’ll spend hours exploring this most historic and picturesque community.

No visit here would be complete without a tour of Knight Foundry, the oldest (1873) water-powered foundry in continuous operation in the USA. Yes, it’s still in business today.
Another must see: the Monteverde Store Museum. Erected in 1898, visitors are transported to yesteryear. Everything is authentic. Seniors will rekindle memories; kids will witness firsthand how the general store used to be. Please click on photo to see what’s inside!

Again, apologies for not being able to capture the “true essence” of Sutter Creek. It must be seen first hand to be truely appreciated.

A reminder, this area is steeped in history and beauty. Sutter Creek’s Amador County is home to several world class wineries. Fishing, water sports, skiing and gold panning are all close by.
