Donna DuFresne’s watercolors are found in private collections around the world. Her work has been shown at galleries in Carmel, Half Moon Bay, San Francisco, Scottsdale and now on the world wide web. From her studio at Pine Mountain Lake, just outside Yosemite, Donna is the founder of the Sierra Professional Artists.

The latest painting of a Goddess series that I began several years ago. With my experimental approach to watercolor, using graphic white, sea salt and watercolor pigments, I’ve created a whimsical rendition of Rainbow Pool near Yosemite.

This painting began with a young woman sitting in a restaurant at the Cannery in San Francisco. I asked if I could take a photo of her, planning ot use it for a painting at a later time. She agreed and this pensive pose emerged. Perhaps she was planning what to do with the rest of her life.

The original painting came purely from my imagination. I used instant tea to create splashing muddy water as the herd of wild horses gallop away from their would-be captors in the distance.
