Columbia Airport in nearby Columbia is the CDF’s Air Attack Headquarters. The big fixed wings as well as the helicopters come from this airport. Here you’ll see the huge tankers lining up for service and traffic so busy that, at times, one plane must wait to take off until another lands. It’s also a place where crews can relax for a moment before going airborne again.
