While Yosemite National Park campgrounds are the most famous (and most crowded), there are many wonderful campgrounds in the surrounding Gold Country. We like these facilities because they not only offer access to Yosemite but are the most convenient to a myriad of Gold Country adventures/activities.
We provide links to our favorites right here. Each contains plenty of pictures and lots of user-friendly information.
Calaveras Big Trees State Park
near Murphys, CA, on Highway 4. Half way between Lake Tahoe & Yosemite, this park provides wonderful campsites amidst the huge redwoods.
Stanislaus National Forest
north of Yosemite & east of the foothills. This national forest offers a full range of camping experiences. Several rivers & streams are here.
Lake View Lodge Campground
east of Yosemite on Highway 395. Also rooms, cottages & RV hookups and convenient to Mono Lake, Bodie and the 120/Tioga Pass corridor to Yosemite.
