Tioga Pass Road (Highway 120) is now open across the central Sierra Nevada. That announcement is from Yosemite National Park officials.
Tioga Road throught the high Sierra portion of the park is closed each winter by snow. Yosemite and Caltrans crews try to get the road cleared as close to Memorial Day as possible. Rangers warn that tourists can expect some delays because of road construction.
The Tioga Road opening comes as great news to Mono County businesses who rely on tourist trade from the west for much of their business.
